Does StarVolta do electrolysis for GCS/SRS/GAS prep?
YES, we do electrolysis for Gender Confirmation/Sexual Reassignment/Gender Affirming Surgery!

What about laser hair removal for GCS/SRS/GAS?
Hair can sometimes return to an area a couple of years after it was laser treated. If a GCS/SRS/GAS surgery is 4-5 years out, laser may be an option (giving time to ensure the area has truly been cleared). If a surgery is less than 4 years out, electrolysis is a better option.

How much area needs to be cleared for GCS/SRS/GAS prep?
The amount of surface area that will need to be fully cleared prior to surgery will be determined by your surgeon. They will provide the electrologist with the specifications for clearing prior to your Vaginoplasty, Labioplasty, Phalloplasty, or other gender related surgery.
-
How long before GCS/SRS/GAS should I begin electrolysis to clear the area?
Start electrolysis as soon as possible. The process can takes approximately 18 months, depending on the area, length of treatment tolerated by the patient, and ability to keep up with treatments on a regular basis.
Additionally, there is a shortage of electrologists in Portland, not all electrologists offer treatments for GCS/SRS/GAS, and there is a huge community in need. Most electrologists have waiting lists that are months to a year long.
If you are preparing for gender confirmation surgery in the near to distant future, it makes sense to contact electrologists and get on wait lists now.

Does StarVolta take insurance?
Many insurance companies will reimburse you personally for gender confirming care of electrolysis with proper receipts (which I am happy to provide), and doctor's approval.
I’m currently unable to bill health insurance directly, as it’s so time intensive, it would reduce the amount of hours I can dedicate to working on clients.
